Happy Mother's Day!

The honor of being a mother is something to be cherished, and not to be taken lightly. There is a saying, "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world."

But let's examine what the Word of God says about mothers and the love of a mother:

• “Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.” – Proverbs 31:25-28
• “And Mary said, ‘My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed.’” – Luke 1:46-48
• “A gracious woman gets honor…” – Proverbs 11:16
• “Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck.” – Proverbs 1:8-9
• “Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children…” – Deuteronomy 4:9
• “When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!  Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.” – John 19:26-27

• “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.” – Isaiah 66:13
• “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” – 1 Peter 4:8
• “And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart.” – Luke 2:51
• “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” – 3 John 1:4
• “So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” – 1 Corinthians 13:13
• “Then the mother of the child said, ‘As the Lord lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.’ So he arose and followed her.” – 2 Kings 4:30
