Luke 24:1-9

This is a familiar passage.  On the first day of the week, the women went to the tomb to prepare Jesus’ body after death.  According to tradition, family and friends washed the body of the deceased, rubbed it with spices and fine oil, and wrapped it in cloths. (John 19:39, 40; Acts 9:36-41)  Since Jesus died on the Sabbath, this practice could not be addressed until the day after the Sabbath.  To keep with the tradition the ladies went to the tomb to prepare Jesus’ body.

There is a difference between RELIGION and RELATIONSHIP. Religion told these ladies to continue the ritual, while RELATIONSHIP would have made them expect an empty tomb.  When we quote scripture from the Word of God, we need to make sure we are LIVING the Word (Relationship) rather than quoting the Word (Religion) in a robotic manner.

None of us should want to miss heaven by 18 inches (the distance between your brain and your heart.)

RELIGION will take you where Jesus was, but seldom where He is.  Is your worship about tradition and religion?
