To Love the Provider over the Provision

It is Valentine’s Day 2021.  It’s the day that we celebrate love!!!  Can you remember your first love?  Who was it?  I want to know, do you know what REAL love is?

Our first Love is steadfast and never leaves us.  Distractions will happen in our lives, and sometimes we walk away, but He is right there waiting for us to return.  True love is unselfish; it seeks to give rather than to be given to; and is modeled for us by our loving Father – God.  He is our Provider – our Jehova Jireh.  True love is not found in the little box from Jared’s, or a present, or flowers and candy.  Have you left your first Love?

We all long for love.  Some say we have to “put in the work” for love to last.  How sweet it is to be loved by Someone who loved me first and Whose love is unconditional.   I do not need to be uncertain of His love because He shows me day by day; hour by hour; minute by minute; second by second.  Every breath that I breathe is His.

His love is proclaimed in many ways within His Word.   One of the most familiar proclamations is found in John 3:16.  But as we live, as life happens, as disappointments and challenges occur, our First Love does not leave us.  We realize that getting closer to our First Love strengthens us to do His will and learn more of Him.

The question today is, which do you hold most dear -- the PROVISION over the PROVIDER?

In life we buy insurance so that we will have help meeting medical issues, ownership issues and even end of life issues.   Staying with your First Love assures that the Provider – (the “assurance”) never goes away.  You have Assurance as well as Insurance.  We must be saved sanctified and filled with the Holy Spirit and continue to contribute to the Provider.  Our relationship with the Provider is personal!

Now, what about this thing called “love.”  If you really want to know what love is, God has the answer.  We walk in it, we live it, we learn more of it, and we show it.  Read 1 John 4:7-8  As God loves us, we are to love one another.

Even if you perceive a person as being “hard to love” loving with the Love of God makes it easier. He has more than enough for you to share with others!  You cannot love God yet hate others who walk this earth!

How do we show our First Love that we love Him in return?

  • Treat each other with love and kindness – even though they may not agree with you
  • Do unto others as Christ has done unto us
  • Submit and commit our ways to God
  • Celebrate the Provider over the provision
  • Thank God because of WHO He is and not because of WHAT He has done.
  • Have faith in Him, as Hebrews 11:6 says without faith it is impossible to please God
  • Delight yourself in the Lord, for He is more than enough  Psalms 37:4
  • 1 John 4:16 says And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

During this time – especially as we process Covid-19, it is important to remember that it’s time to get back to the Provider.

We don’t need to get back to the building in order to access the Provider!
