This is a well-known story from the Word of God and it is there for the perfecting of the saints. How many times have you felt like you deserved something, only to be denied, or told you do not qualify (when you believe that you do)? That is the case with the Syrophoenician woman. She knew that she was already looked down upon because she was not Jewish – she was a gentile. Yet she pressed for the sake of what her daughter needed. She was prepared for rejection but pressed her way through to seek Jesus’ help.
Often Christians wonder just what Jesus meant by responding, “It is not meet to take the children’s bread and cast it unto dogs.” To some, it seems harsh that He would speak to her that way. To others, it is merely seen as a test. Jesus knew what her response would be, yet He responded to her this way so that she could see the strength that she had within herself. The woman persevered. Because of her faith, Jesus delivered her daughter and the devil was sent away from the daughter.
What about your life? What have you given up on, when you should have stayed the course, trusted God and pushed forward? You know that God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Ephesians 3:20. Do you keep asking, or do you give up?
Do you have the faith of the Syrophoenician Woman? Don’t be denied. Trust God and pass the test, pushing all the faith within you. Let the Holy Spirit delve beneath the surface and bring forth your passion, faith and trust in God. In God you are highly esteemed. You are not what someone else says that you are.
What is your name? What do you call yourself? I AM:
- A Conqueror
- An Overcomer
THIS WOMAN DID NOT GIVE UP
Jacob would not let go until God blessed him. (Genesis 32:26)
What have you been through? Of what have you been denied? Go boldly before the throne of God and don’t lose faith.
Don’t give up!
